3/25/09 BCT Letter to the Editor by Carolyn Moore

Posted on 6:17 PM by veer
You want us to let you inspect the inside of our house so you can increase the taxes we pay?

Carolyn Moore's BCT Letter to the Editor today nails the issues Willingboro Public Officials need to address if they hope to improve the image and quality of life issues that Willingboro currently faces. Carolyn is asking, what impact will the reassessment of homes currently being done in Willingboro have on the five (5) issues she feels are key to the revival of Willingboro.

Carolyn's points can also be applied to Edgewater Park. Next year our town will also be undergoing a reassessment of our homes. We need to ask the same questions that Carolyn asked, because Edgewater Park is currently facing the same problems as Willingboro.

Kudos to Carolyn Moore and the Editors of the BCT for publishing her letter.

Burlington City Hits The Big Time

Posted on 7:39 AM by veer
Another exclusive from The Burlington Reporter.

Burlington City was the front page story in the March Issue of the League Of Municipalities  Magazine. You can read the article with this link www.njslom.org/magart_2009_03_pg4.html. After reading the article you will see what a wonderful PR job was done by the author, John Alexander who was hired last year by Mayor Fazzone to the newly created position of Director of Public Affairs.

John Alexander Director of Public Affairs
John sees that the reporters for the local papers, are continuously feed good PR stories that hopefully portray the City and the Mayor in the best light.

After reading this wonderful story about the Mayor Fazzone and Eric Berry Administrator #1 you should then read the story re-printed on msnbc 3/15/09, about the financial realities in Burlington City. Link www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29678722/ .

I am beginning to understand the strategy of our elected officials in Burlington City, Edgewater Park, Beverly and Willingboro.

If you tell the residences what a wonderful job you are doing for their benefit, with well written newspaper and magazine articles placed in those periodicals by the Director of PR, knowing how the public doesn't like to hear any negative or critical information, you can then convince them that the actions taken by the elected officials are not the cause of higher taxes, cuts in service or layoffs.

It is Hitler's BIG LIE theory (Chapter 10 of Mein Kampf)...
"in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their mind, they will still doubt and and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly imprudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all experts liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying." –Adolf Hitler , Mein Kampf, vol. I, ch. X

A report on Hitler's psychological profile by the US Office of Strategic Services during WWII made the following observation; his primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him foe everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it."–Hitler as His Associates Know Him (OSS report, p.51)

Burlington City residents, I hope you enjoyed The Big Burlington Lie Article, and if you believe it, you should also read; The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. You will particularly like the chapter that has a very frightened Dorothy asking the Great Oz to help her return to her home in Kansas, and the Great Oz is replying very sternly that he will not help her, Toto (Dorothy's dog) pulls back the curtain and exposes the Professor, and the Professor tells Dorothy; "do not to pay any attention to that man (the Professor) behind the curtain, that he is not the Great OZ."

Just as in OZ, the Mayor of Burlington doesn't want you to pay any attention to the layoffs, higher taxes, decreased services, Police overtime cutbacks; so that he can continue to create new job for his friends and cover this up with rickshaws, miniature golf courses and additional public buildings for the taxpayer to maintain.

These glorious projects and new jobs, will do wonders for the taxpayers of Burlington and the improvement in the quality of life of our town– Burlington OZ.

A Walk Through Beverly 1941

Subject: A Walk Through Beverly 1941

The movie "A Walk Through Beverly" has now been made available worldwide on Youtube.com. The quality of the video has been decreased slightly due to Youtube size constraints. The film has broken into 7 parts approximately 7 to 10 minutes each. Here is a little history of the film.
Arthur Gager, the son of lifelong Beverly resident, Mary Gager is a New York illustrator and graphic designer who grew up in Beverly, He restored an old 16mm movie, filmed in 1941 by an unknown women who was hired by Madge VanSciver. Her reflection can be seen in some of the store windows if you watch closely. Arthur recorded it on to VHS tape. In 2004 ACCENT digitally edited the tape adding music from the period and put it on DVD.
In a letter to the Beverly Bee, Arthur writes,
"Although I've lived in Manhattan for 34 years, Beverly is my home. I remember when one did all of one's shopping without leaving town. There were 12 grocery stores, a 5 & 10,two hardware stores, a department store, a notions store, a great bakery, a movie theater, a newspaper shop, two new car dealers, two pharmacies and much much more. Beverly was the world and a magical one at that."

Now the magic can live on in our hearts and minds forever. This is a must see for the residents of Beverly

BCT Front Page "Burlington Coat Factory to consider sale of real estate" Monday March 9, 2009

Posted on 6:04 AM by veer
It took the BCT two weeks after this Blog did a story 2/23/09, about the Burlington Coat Factory listing its property in Edgewater Park for sale as well as the latest 21 million in just completed improvements.

In the BCT story today 3/9/09 (story link), you will read that Mayor Mount (Atzert) claims, "even if the building ultimately ends up being owned by another company, it should not affect the agreement as long as the building serves the same purpose."

The BCT quoting Mount;"If the essential nature of the use remains the same, i.e., a warehouse operation, we expect that the PILOT agreement would remain in effect."

According to former township committee members, the agreement does not allow for any changes in ownership, and that the PILOT agreement is void if there is a change in ownership of the property. We will post a copy of the Burlington Coat Factory PILOT Agreement, signed by both the Township and the Coat Factory back in 2001, when we receive copy from the former committee members.

The change of ownership also may affect the $2 million building loan to Burlington Coat Factory made by Burlington County Dept. of Economic Development in 2000/2001 (the listed corporation for the EP property is/was a wholly owned corporation of the BCF) according to Mark Remsa, the Dept. Director.

The BCT story also states according to Administrator/Clerk Linda Dougherty, "that under the agreement, the Township Committee decides each year how much money is allocated from the Coat Factory's payments for municipal government, schools and fire districts."

As far as we know the Township Committee has only given money from the annual PILOT payments in 2003, to the school district. The Fire District has never received any money from the township PILOT agreement, according to a member of the Fire Commission. !!!! We have a correction!!!! The Fire District did receive a small payment in 2002 from the Township, but none since.

The BCT story has a problem with its story because the statements made by Township Officials for this BCT story is that the Township Officials provided no documentation for their positions and the BCT reporter didn't ask for the documentation to substantiate the official's statements to verify what he was told.

The problem for the Edgewater Park Taxpayer with this story, is that the Mayor Mount (Atzert) and Township Administrator/Clerk most likely checked with the Township Solicitor, before making any statements to the BCT reporter. Guess what? The township solicitor, William Kearns, was the attorney who represented the Coat Factory when the PILOT agreement was negotiated back in 2000/2001, according to former Township Committee Members. We think that the township needs to get legal advise from an experienced attorney who doesn't have this conflict.

To this Post 'best friend', who likes to cast doubt on what is posted here with his/her comments, this story represents the importance of Edgewater Park, NJ Happenings and post like it, to inform and get facts to the public, that unfortunately our local papers do not. The BCT and others do not check the information feed to them from our public officials, but only regurgitate it in the articles they publish.

More to follow,

Is Mr. Van Brunt Thinking About Running for Township Committee?

Posted on 8:00 AM by veer
We hope so.

Chris VanBrunt has been selected to serve on the Edgewater Park School Board as a replacement for Raymond Rebilas who resigned. Is this a precursor to Chris running again for township committee? Stay tuned.

When I called Mr. Dovey, Edgewater Park Republican Chairman, about Chris VanBrunt running, he denied any knowledge of this rumor, but told this reporter the Democrats will be running Aimee Belgard, Vice Chair of the Planning Board, as one of their candidates (2)  for township committee this year (2009).

This means that either Mayor Atzert or former Mayor Hall are not running for re-election.  With this candidate selection, maybe we will get intelligent and honest changes with the way our township is run. To bad for your Republican Party Mr. Dovey, because the local Democrats finally are running someone with intelligence, integrity and leadership qualities.

Check out the BCT today (3/5/09) to see the names of the 4 candidates who are running unopposed in this years School Bd. Election.  Three Democratic County Committee Members (Alexander, Coyle & Daly) and one Republican County Committee Member (VanBrunt).

The Township Administrator/Clerk and the Edgewater Park Democratic Party control all Edgewater Park Township Committees, Boards and Authorities, except for the Fire Commission, that have impacted your property tax increases for the past six years. Remember that when you vote.
